Systems Design:
Our Engineering Department can design and build any system for your specific application. We are experts in know-how to apply New Technologies for efficient and trouble-free process heating and cooling. Green Box offers a very large array of solutions for your cooling needs. Some examples are described below:

(click pictures to enlarge)

Free-Cooler and Minibox
This system consists on an outdoors Free-Cooler, and beside-the-machine Minibox units.
The Free-Cooler operates like a cooling tower, but in closed-loop, providing clean and uncontaminated water to machine hydraulics and to the condenser of the Minibox units. The Minibox is a portable chiller, with capabilities to heat and/or cool the mold. They can have one, two or three zones of different temperatures to your process (for instance, a gate or a thin section of the mold requiring different temperatures). Minibox units can be provided with pump rotation reverse, to empty your mold. Free-Cooling can be achieved when mold temperature is higher than ambient temperature. In this situation, the Minibox compressor shuts down automatically, and we use the water in Closed-Loop from the Free-Cooler to cool your molds.

Free-Cooler and Indoors Aircooled Chiller
This system consist on a Free-Cooler combined with new or existing Indoors Aircooled Chiller(s).
In this design, the process is being cooled by an Aircooled Chiller in Closed-Loop. The Free-Cooler operates as a Booster for the chiller. Whenever the ambient temperatures are a few degrees below the chiller Set-Point to the process (for instance, during winter operation), we obtain Free-Cooling. Partial Free-Cooling can also be obtained thanks to the 3-way System Valve. This valve mixes the cooled water from the Free-Cooler, with the process return water, hence decreasing the overall return water temperature. The chiller will then operate at partial load, having the cooling load shared with the Free-Cooler.

Free-Cooler and Indoors Aircooled Chiller
This system consists on a Free-Cooler combined with new or existing Indoors Aircooled Chiller(s).
The design is very similar to the previous layout, but now we have two temperature circuits: The Free-Cooler cools down the hydraulics, and also the chiller low temperature circuit when possible. This provides Free-Cooling to the molds when the ambient is below the Chiller Set-point. From the Energy point of view, this systems is more efficient than the previous, because hydraulics load is not carried by the chiller.

Free-Coolers and Watercooled Central Chiller
This system consists on two Free-Coolers with new or existing Watercooled Chiller(s).
A Free-Cooler is supplying water to the condenser of the chiller(s). During winter time, or when the chiller Set-point is a few degrees over the ambient, the Free-Cooler replaces the chiller, providing Full Free-Cooling. The 3-Way valve makes the Free-Cooler operate as a Booster for Partial Free-Cooling. The second Free-Cooler is taking the place of a traditional cooling tower, to provide, in closed-loop, clean water to the machine hydraulics. This system can be also combined with your existing or with Green Box Temperature Control Units, for any molds that require a different temperature, flow, or pressure, than those provided by the central unit.

Free-Coolers and Watercooled Central Chiller - PET
This system consists on two Free-Coolers connected to existing or new Watercooled Central Chiller(s). It has the capabilities of the previous typical system, and in addition, the second Free-Cooler has an automatic connection to the low water temperature circuit, provided by the chiller. As before, any individual mold or process that requires a different temperature, flow or pressure, than those provided by the Central Chiller, can use an existing or new Temperature Control Unit. This typical system is ideal for PET plants operating with injection-blow processes.

Self-Draining Free-Cooler - Engineering Resins
This system consists on a Self-Draining Free-Cooler designed to operate without glycol.
The Free-Cooler provides clean water and in closed-loop to the process. This system is ideal for facilities injecting Engineering Resins, Nylons, ABS, etc... where the molds will always be over the ambient temperature. Green Box can cool your plant without a chiller. This represents large savings in Capital Equipment and in Energy Consumption, as we can cool your process without the use of chillers' compressors.

Self-Draining Free-Cooler and Aircooled Chiller - Extrusion
This system consists on a Self-Draining Free-Cooler designed to operate without glycol, and an Aircooled Booster Chiller.
Ideal for Extrusion Plants, this systems allow cooling of your extruders' hydraulics and baths with closed-loop water, provided by the Free-Cooler, saving Energy. During the hot season, the Chiller is automatically switched on. We can add individual beside-the-machine units with integral heat exchangers and/or filter, to maintain clean water.
